A short film that looks into the minds and thoughts of soldiers who are faced with difficult situations. As any human being, there will be fear and apprehension, but how does a soldier face them and control their emotions especially under severe trauma – Sada Amar Rahe is a short film that explores into this unknown.
“I am a soldier. Dying for our country is our ultimate pride..” – Col. Brijesh Nair, Sada Amar Rahe
From the day both countries were formed in 1947, the relations between India and Pakistan were largely hostile. The wars, skirmishes and stand-offs never stopped even after many peace efforts between these two nuclear states. After the Balakot terrorist camp strike by India on 26th February 2019, in retaliation to the Pulwama terrorist attack, tensions between the two countries peaked again. On 27th February 2019, the very next day, Pakistani Air Force attempted to cross Line of Control and Indian Air Force scrambled their fighter jets to retaliate. In the ensuing dogfight, Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, brought down a Pakistani F-21. He was later captured by Pakistani army after he had to eject himself from the Mig 21 Bison he was flying when it was hit by a missile.
For the next 60 hours Abhinandan was held captive at various places and interrogated. Pakistani authorities released some videos of him being interrogated over tea, however, after his release Abhinandan disclosed to the Indian authorities that he was subjected to considerable mental harassment unlike the videos released by the Pakistani authorities. A medical check-up upon his return showed multiple bruises and a fractured rib. Sada Amar Rahe was inspired by this true incident.
We all have heard many gallant stories of soldiers who fight to protect their countries. However, there are not enough stories about those moments, when they have to choose death rather than selling their country. This is our humble attempt, in the middle of so many limitations, to tell the world about the turmoils inside the mind of a brave soldier.
